Maumee Horse Camp is a small, commercial, campground,  5 sites with electricity and primitive sites as well. Maumee Horsemen’s Campground is owned by Rod and Jean Hilldebrand, this is not to be confused with the Maumee Boy Scout Campground located in the Hoosier National Forest off of Tower Ridge Road past the tower. Riding Shirley Creek

Shirley Creek is part of Hoosier National Forest in Southern Indiana. It has 20 miles of trails, 15 campsites with hitching rails and picnic tables and fire rings and vault toilets. No water, just a spring for horses.

Shirley Creek Trail runs approximately 19.5 miles through a variety of terrains in scenic hardwood forest. It’s shady are perfect for horseback riding. Hiking, and mountain biking are also allowed….

Riding The Cardinal Greenway

The Cardinal Greenway is part of the American Discovery Trail, rail trail that is 70 miles long. It is under construction, so not all of the trail is complete. Also, not all is open to horses.

The 10 mile section that runs from downtown Muncie to the Henry county line (10 miles) is complete.

The trail will eventually run from Richmond to Gaston. Only 4 miles has a separate treadway for horses, starting at Medford and ending at country road 650 south. It has a connector trail of .7 miles that leads trails to the equestrian trails open on the Prairie Creek Res., south of Muncie….

Hilly Hollow is a small riding area in Vermilion County, Indiana

Hilly Hollow is actually Jerry Hill’s farm and you can ride there anytime. He has a nice pond, trails around his place and in the woods.

There are people who camp there but there aren’t really any spots available that you could count on being open.

There was a horse trailer camped there Sunday….
