Outside the horsemen’s campground there are many things to do. You will find hiking trails, cabins to rent, a swimming pool, tennis courts, playground equipment, Inn accommodations, a restaurant, a camp store, and beautiful vistas. Sunday morning we went to a Church service that is held at the outdoor amphitheater behind the nature center. We sat on rustic benches facing the most amazingly beautiful overlook into a valley as the sun came up. There was a hawk gliding majestically above the trees as we bowed our heads and worshipped our Lord. You may not be aware of it, but most parks offer a worship service. Just ask the location from any park ranger. We usually ride our horses to the small village of Story. There is an outstanding restaurant with a menu good enough to make strong men salivate! One of the trails leads you right to their back door where you will find hitching rails ready and waiting. There is an old upright piano inside, and after dinner I played Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag. Was it my imagination, or did everyone begin chewing faster?
